The Wear Your Joy Project Week 2

I've been trying to attempt to take a picture of my outfits each day. I've been really proud of myself for actually getting dressed for the most part. If you want to know more about Kelly Rae Robert's Wear Your Joy Project you can check out my post here.

This past Saturday I cut all my hair off! I'm really enjoying it. Now I just need to decide on a color...Right now I'm sticking with a natural color, but I can hear the fun wild colors calling my name already....

If you'd like to play along, leave me a link in the comments I'd love to check out your outfits!

The Wear Your Joy Project

Since becoming a stay at home momma, I spend most if not all of my day in my pjs or tights and a tee. Somewhere along the way I'd lost the motivation to get dressed. I used to love fashion and creating wacky outfits, and it was a big part of who I was.

Right now I am kinda in this weird transition of learning to love this new body that feels super foreign to me, and discovering who I am as a person again (not just Amelia's mom). I'm finding it difficult to take the time I need for myself everyday.

Kelly Rae Roberts(who is a huge inspiration to me) started posting her daily outfits online and asking for others to play along with her #thewearyourjoyproject. It's not about making the perfect outfit, it's about wearing things that make you feel good about yourself and that you enJOY wearing.

I love how Kelly put it,

"...the practice of getting dressed in the morning with intention."
" Moving from what do I want to look like to how do I want to feel?"  and
"...moving from I'll never loose the weight to I have big gratitude for this healthy body and how can I celebrate it's creative spirit/expression today."

She wrote this amazing blog post on the why's and how's of this idea.

For me this is a chance to feel motivated and hold me accountable to get dressed everyday, even if I am not going anywhere. I find that getting dressed helps me get more accomplished during the day too!
I began to enJOY the practice of getting dressed in the morning with intention. Do I love it? Great, then it goes on my skin. Do I not love it? Then it doesn't go on my body. The self talk is moving from what do I want to look like to how do I want to feel? And it's also moving from I'll never lose the weight to I have big gratitude for this healthy body and how can I celebrate it's creative spirit/expression today? - See more at: http://kellyraeroberts.blogspot.com/2013/11/how-cowgirl-boots-have-led-my-heart.html#sthash.10TruWKe.dpuf

Handmade Fav: My Kawaii Phone

IMG_5751For a while now I've wanted a decoden case for my phone, but all the ones I found were super expensive. I entertained the idea of making my own, but got overwhelmed with all the different cabochons and also the time it would take to glue all the pieces on. I stumbled across My Kawaii Phone on Etsy, who not only had  great prices but does custom cases. She has a new online shop on Storenvy where she sells her cases, and now uses her Etsy to sell cute cabochon sets.

I ordered a custom case, (pictured above) and was so excited to get it! She has awesome customer service and fast delivery! She also makes cases for other devices! I can't wait to get one made for my DS! She makes all sorts of other cute things too! So please check out her shop and support cute handmade!

IMG_5802This is my new favorite picture of Amelia. We had just got up, and she was all smiles. It's hard to catch her smiling without the picture being blurry, but this cute face will do! Look at those lashes! xo

My computer is on the fritz, so it's an Instagram photo this week. I love this picture. Amelia is 8 weeks old this week. I got her a little grey elephant for Valentines day that she loves. So here is a little extra cuteness.

Live and Breathing

This week in Lubbock, local bands are getting an awesome opportunity to be part of Live and Breathing.

Live and Breathing Poster

Live and Breathing was created as a way for musicians to get their music heard by recording them in their most basic form at sites that few would ever conceive as musical backdrops. The goal is to “capture intimate performances by musicians in unique, personal settings.”

Here in Lubbock, they are recording in historic sites such as the Las Escarbadas from the XIT Ranch located at the National Ranching Heritage Center.

My husband's band, Thrift Store Cowboys, completed their session on Tuesday.

Jess Hale from Tomahawk Productions also booked all the bands at a local venue, The Blue Light to make it a full week of awesome music.

As soon as the sessions are up on the Live and Breathing website, I will post the link.

I'll leave you with a video taken by a fan at The Blue Light

That's What She Said Sunday

Another week has come and gone, and WHERE DID OCTOBER GO?!

This month has been crazy busy for my little family. Today is my LAST baby shower, and I couldn't be more thrilled. As much as I love presents and cupcakes, it can be a little overwhelming. Not to mention the hand cramps from writing thank you notes. (I'm in desperate need of stamps!)

Between work, baby showers, baby classes, fixing up the nursery, and being a tired pregnant lady, we haven't had time to do all the fun fall things we like to do. We still haven't bought a pumpkin (let alone carved one), gone to the corn maze, bought Halloween candy, or got around to planning our little Halloween party (lets not even talk about costumes). Again, it's a little sad and stressful, but Clint put it into perspective last night by saying next year we will get to experience all those fun things with Amelia (and won't she be cute!).

So here's to one more round of cupcakes and thank you's! Tomorrow I hope to post a little DIY for a simple thank you, so stay tuned.
