My Mom Life: Top Used Baby Shower Gifts

When your baby shower finally rolls around, you expect to get items off your registry. In the real world you get a handful of things off the registry and a ton of clothes, diapers, and other random things. Here are my top baby shower gifts that I've used the most. Hopefully it will give you an idea for an upcoming shower you are attending, or something you could use as a new mom.
I told myself I wasn't going to do a pacifier, and here I am with a kid addicted to this Wubba Nub. This has come in handy to soothe Amelia, and help her soothe herself. It stays in her mouth better and is way easier to find without my glasses on in the middle of the night. Now that she is getting older, I've noticed her using the pacifier less and mostly playing with the animal. We are hunting down an elephant one now, in the event we loose this one.

The sleep sheep is one item we did register for. My daughter loves the ocean sound, and goes right to sleep in her car seat. We have the travel and the regular sized one, and use both.

We did not register for this projecting night light/ sound machine, but we use this every night. We actually have 2 because I broke the 1st one trying to travel with it. Amelia loved the projections, especially the moon and stars. This machine also makes the ocean sound (along with many others), and has a timer.

This has been her favorite toy. Someone told me that babies can see black and white better when they are new. Not sure if that's true, but she interacts with this toy and not many of the others. My husband named it Tree Trunks (like from Adventure Time).

If you don't get anything else, you need a Boppy pillow. This is a life saver, especially if you're breastfeeding, but works great for bottle feeding too. Amelia liked to sleep on this in our laps when she was little bitty, now she likes to sit in it. I would recommend buying extra covers.

I am using this baby monitor right now. We had no idea what to go with and I just picked one at random, but this one works well for us. I know there are all sorts of high tech ones out these days, but I'm tired and busy and who has time for figuring out crazy stuff when you may only have an hour or two to get things done?!

This is such a great reminder. For example, I had a boss who always made fun of the way I dress (to my face) in a teasing manner. I never let it bother me or make me change the way I dress, I like the way I dress, it is an extension of who I am. I understood that she was very unhappy with her life, aging, and things she couldn't change. To make herself feel better, she teased me. That doesn't make it okay, but sometimes you have to put things into perspective. It's not you they have a problem with, it's themselves. Be you, and be happy. :)

Happy Hipster Easter Dress Round Up

I still haven't found the perfect dress for Amelia to wear for Easter. Probably because I am a bit unconventional and don't want her in some crazy fluffy tulle monstrosity, and I can't find anything small enough. But here are some cute things I would possibly get her, if they came in her size:

All this cute Harajuku Mini stuff at Target drives me crazy! I want it all for Amelia, and I wish it was small enough, (and big enough for me too!).

Bobo Choses has some really unique pieces. I like how laid back and comfy everything looks. Also, you need to be able to move freely if you are going to get your egg hunt on!

Wunway has some rad, original pieces that I can't wait for Amelia to be able to wear. Their styling on the website is super cute! They have tons of cute dresses and leggings.

Coffee Date

Something inspiring: getting away from the city for a while. It was nice to be at the ranch and just enjoy the peace and quiet, family time, good food, and nature.

Something new: I got my first shellac manicure and I love it!

Something disturbing: I was excited to see new episodes of My Little Pony on Netflix. At least I like the show Amelia likes, right?

Something I'm listening to: the baby monitor. I've been working on getting Amelia to nap in her crib, so she will eventually sleep in there instead of the bassinet.

We are back from the ranch. We had a nice visit with family. Amelia is sleeping on the very first quilt that LaLa ever made. She said it was an around the world quilt, and I think it's adorable. Amelia is now 3 months old and as cute as ever! xo

Handmade Fav: My Kawaii Phone

For a while now I've wanted a decoden case for my phone, but all the ones I found were super expensive. I entertained the idea of making my own, but got overwhelmed with all the different cabochons and also the time it would take to glue all the pieces on. I stumbled across My Kawaii Phone on Etsy, who not only had  great prices but does custom cases. She has a new online shop on Storenvy where she sells her cases, and now uses her Etsy to sell cute cabochon sets.

I ordered a custom case, (pictured above) and was so excited to get it! She has awesome customer service and fast delivery! She also makes cases for other devices! I can't wait to get one made for my DS! She makes all sorts of other cute things too! So please check out her shop and support cute handmade!

This is my new favorite picture of Amelia. We had just got up, and she was all smiles. It's hard to catch her smiling without the picture being blurry, but this cute face will do! Look at those lashes! xo

My Mom Life: Makeup Favs

Most days I'm lucky to wash my face and brush my teeth as a new mom. So when I do need to go out in public and not look like a zombie, I need a quick and easy routine. Here are a few of my favorite go to items.

I recently purchased Covergirl's BB Cream even though it got terrible reviews. I was looking more for a tinted moisturizer and this fit the bill on the cheap. I also like Covergirl's nature luxe for a bit more coverage. I am a huge fan of Benefit products (but not of the price). The few products I have continued using tend to last me a long time and work great! I love benetint! It is a lip and cheek stain (and it smells like roses). Another one of my favorite Benefit products is this boi~ing concealer. It's great for covering up zombie eyes. On occasion, when I feel fancy I like to use Benefit's Play Stick which is a nice coverage foundation that has chamomile.I recently purchased this Maybelline Rocket Volume mascara. I like the fullness it gives my lashes and it was a pretty good price.

30 Days of Lists

This is my first time participating in 30 Days of Lists. It seemed like a quick scrapbook project that would give me something to look forward to each day while Amelia naps and I drink my coffee.

I used a chip book from Hobby Lobby, the Doodle Deux 6x6 paper stack, and lots of random stickers, ribbons, and stamps that I already had at home.
